World Wide Technology Raceway
Madison, IL
Built in 1967 as a drag racing facility, motorsports fans in Illinois finally had a place to go watch racing. After the track changed hands in 1994, the road course layout and drag racing layout were demolished to build the current oval layout.
When the oval opened in 1998, the track featured two very distinct corners. Turns 1 and 2 are banked steeper and match the characteristics of New Hampshire Motor Speedway, while Turns 3 and 4 are less banked and match Phoenix Raceway. Due to this design of the corners, the track is similar in shape to Darlington Raceway in South Carolina.
Starting in 1998, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series ran at World Wide Technology Raceway. The series raced at the track up until 2010 when ownership switched. After another ownership change in 2012, the Truck Series made its return in 2014 and remained on the schedule through 2024. The Cup Series raced at World Wide Technology raceway for the first time in 2022 with Joey Logano winning the inaugural event. The race shifts into the Cup Series Playoffs for the first time in 2025 while the Xfinity Series will make its first stop at the 1.25-mile speedway.
