Texas Motor Speedway
Fort Worth, TX
Texas Motor Speedway began construction in 1995 and formally opened in February 1996. It was quickly reconfigured in 1998 and was repaved in 2002.
The 1.5-mile oval went through another reconfiguration in 2017, decreasing banking in Turns 1 and 2 to 20 degrees and an additional layer of asphalt over the entire surface. Turns 3 and 4 remained at 24 degrees of banking.
Texas is known for its exciting pre-race promotions. Past festivities have included a full carnival, a drone light show and various wild stunts. Additionally, Texas also features the largest high-definition video screen, called Big Hoss, which is on the backstretch of the track. The winner at Texas receives not only a trophy but a cowboy hat and two six-shooter revolvers as a tribute to the culture of Texas.
The NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series and Craftsman Truck Series return to Texas in May 2025.
