Texas Motor Speedway
Fort Worth, TXTexas Motor Speedway started construction in 1995, and the track was formally opened in February of 1996. Shortly after the track was opened, it was reconfigured in 1998, and went through a repave in 2002.
The 1.5 mile oval features 20 degree banking in turns 1 and 2, and 24 degrees in turn 3 and 4. The track currently hosts two NASCAR race weekends, with one of them being the NASCAR All Star race, and the other race weekend in the NASCAR Playoffs.
Texas is known for doing promotions bigger than any other track in NASCAR. Past festivities have included a full carnival, a drone light show, and various wild stunts before the race. In addition to these promos, Texas also features the largest high definition video screen, called Big Hoss, which is on the backstretch of the track. The winner at Texas receives not only a trophy, but a cowboy hat and two six shooter revolvers as a tribute to the culture of Texas.
