Pocono Raceway
Long Pond, PA
Since the track was built in 1968, Pocono Raceway began holding races in 1971. IndyCar and NASCAR both have a rich history at the track, with both series racing in northeast Pennsylvania the first year the track was open. While both series have turned many laps at Pocono, NASCAR is the headliner with the Cup Series, Xfinity Series and Truck Series making stops each summer. Pocono hosted two NASCAR weekends from 1982 to 2019 with doubleheader weekends in 2020 and 2021.
Pocono is one of the most unique tracks on the NASCAR circuit. While most tracks follow an oval layout, Pocono has three unique corners, all shaped and banked differently. When the track was built, the designers wanted each turn to be modeled after a different track around the United States. Turn 1 is modeled after Trenton Speedway, Turn 2 is modeled after Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Turn 3 is modeled after The Milwaukee Mile.
