Pocono Raceway
Long Pond, PASince the track was built in 1968, Pocono Raceway began holding races in 1971. IndyCar and NASCAR both have a rich history at the track, with both series racing there the first year the track was open. While both racing series have turned many laps at Pocono, currently NASCAR is the headliner there, having 2 Cup series races at the track. Previously, these races were on separate weekends, but in 2020 the races got moved to a doubleheader, with one race Saturday and the other Sunday.
Pocono is one of the most unique tracks on the NASCAR circuit. While most tracks follow the oval layout, Pocono has three unique corners, all shaped and banked differently. When the track was built, the designers wanted each turn to be modeled after a different track around the US. Turn 1 is modeled after Trenton Speedway, turn 2 is modeled after Indianapolis, and turn 3 is modeled after the Milwaukee Mile.
