New Hampshire Motor Speedway
Loudon, NH
Opening in 1990, New Hampshire Motor Speedway serves as the premier venue for motorsports fans in the northeast. The track made a debut in 1990 with the NASCAR Xfinity series, and driver Tommy Ellis winning the inaugural race. After successful Xfinity races, the track was awarded a cup race in 1993. Rusty Wallace was the winner of the race, and the track has been on the NASCAR schedule ever since.
New Hampshire features a asphalt and granite surface, with a very small 7 degree banking in the turns. Because of the high speeds in the straightaways and tight corners, this track requires patience and skill to get around quickly.
New Hampshire currently hosts one NASCAR race weekend, with the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity series visiting the speedway. To celebrate the culture of the northeast, the winner of the race receives a giant, 20 pound lobster as the trophy.
