Martinsville Speedway
Ridgeway, VAFounded in 1947 by the late H. Clay Earles, Martinsville Speedway is the only track which has hosted NASCAR Cup Series races every year since 1949. At .526 miles in length, Martinsville is the shortest track on the NASCAR circuit. Due to the small size and tight corners, Martinsville offers some of the most exciting racing in the sport. Also, fans are closer to the action than any other track in NASCAR. The cars are never more than a few hundred yards away, which offers fans a great view of the sport.
Seating over 65,000 fans, Martinsville Speedway offers some of the best views in NASCAR. Due to the short length, there is never a bad seat at the track. Drivers and fans alike love the track due to the close racing. However, tempers have been known to flare at Martinsville, leading to some post race confrontations on pit road. In 2017, Martinsville completed their latest renovation, adding in lights around the track. Martinsville opened their new lights in 2017, with one of the biggest late model races in the country, the ValleyStar 300, attracting short track drivers from all over the country.
Martinsville Speedway is also legendary on the culinary side of NASCAR. The world famous Martinsville Hot Dog is a staple at the track. At just $2, the hot dog comes “fully loaded” with onions, mustard, chili, and slaw. Drivers, crew members, media, and fans flock to the concessions stand for the dogs, and they are a must have any time at Martinsville.
