TRACK BIOGRAPHY

Originally opened as California Speedway, Auto Club Speedway was opened in 1997 in Fontana, California. The project was envisioned by team owner Roger Penske, and NASCAR ran their first race on the two mile oval in 1997. From 2004-2010, NASCAR visited the track twice per season, with the first race in early March and the second race on Labor Day weekend. However, since 2011 the track has hosted one event per season, the Auto Club 400. The corners of Auto Club Speedway also feature 14-degree banking, creating high speeds at the track.
