ABOUT Legacy Motor Club
Petty GMS Motorsports began racing in 2000 under a different name, Evernham Motorsports. Over the years the team has changed names a few times, ultimately being named after ‘The King’ from 2009-2021. In 2022, the organization merged with GMS Racing, LLC., becoming Petty GMS Motorsports. In 2023, the team went through another rebranding, this time as Legacy Motor Club. Joining the ownership group is also 7 time Cup champion Jimmie Johnson, who will also run a handful of select races for the team. As an organization, they have earned 21 victories in the Cup Series. Other notable drivers that have raced for the team include Bill Elliott, Kasey Kahne, Marcos Ambrose, Jeremy Mayfield, Elliott Sadler, AJ Allmendinger, Aric Almirola, Bubba Wallace, Erik Jones, & Ty Dillon. In 2022, the team returned to victory lane after Erik Jones won the Southern 500. For 2023, the team will field 3 cars, with Erik Jones, Noah Gragson, and Jimmie Johnson in a part time role.
